Nugagala Aranya

            The great hope of the Bikkus’ (Monks) is to attain Nibbang through meditaton from the monastic life.
            We can find such Buddhist monks from the Nugagala Aranya.which is situated in the middle of the Kanneliya forest Yalagals Vimalajohi thero who is 65 years old spending 35 years after mendi cancy lives in this Nugagala Aranya.
            To reach this beautiful Nugagala Aranya you should come along the Udugama Thawalama road to Nugagala Mawatha from thet the are 4 km to Aranya. The EsAthu Nugu tree (Banian tree) spreads on a huge rock is a great creation of the nature.
            There is a ouse made of stone beside this tree In that there is an attactine statue of Buddha This Lea viharaya ‘ (cavern house) was built in 1953
            The engraving of the statues from stones has been begun 1973 atfer Vimalajohi thero’s arrival.
